FieldServiceTested is meant to be usable by everyone who buys software for a trade business, including people who use a screen reader, keyboard only, magnification or high-contrast settings, and people reading on a phone in bright light with a cracked screen. This statement says what we aim for, how we check it, what we know falls short and how to tell us.
What we aim for
We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Colour is never the only carrier of meaning: every evidence level has a shape and a text label as well as a colour. Text keeps a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 and interface elements at least 3:1. Every page can be read and operated with a keyboard alone, and the content is complete without JavaScript.
How we check
Every change to the site runs automated accessibility checks (axe-core) at phone, tablet and desktop widths before it can be published; a change that introduces a violation is not merged. We also run a keyboard pass on new templates and review the site’s own colour tokens rather than page by page.
Known limitations
- Evidence recordings have no captions or transcripts yet. They show software screens with no speech; the written result on the same page describes what happened. We plan to add short descriptions per recording.
- Site search needs JavaScript. Every page, including search results’ targets, is reachable without it through the navigation and the sitemaps.
- Dense comparison tables are read row by row on narrow screens; the full table is available at desktop width and as a CSV download on each task result page.
- Evidence screenshots carry a text description of what the screenshot shows, not a transcription of every label in the image.
